The world is fucked! That does not mean you can’t make it better!

Adam Wilson -via Unspalsh

A countless number of countries are at civil war, diseases are spreading, economic viability is always a concern, and political ideology has created division within every institution and faction of life. America feels like it will implode a second now, and we are constantly bombarded with contradictory news and perspectives.

To be direct, the world will be hell in a handbasket at 100mph, and there are no breaks.

So, what else is there to do than give into the chaos, pick a side, bear down, and engage in an ideological battle?

That’s too easy, yet so comforting at the same time. We are tribal, and to have clear-cut bullet points to follow makes the instinctual laziness and desire for comfort that is wired into us feel “right”

In this sense, the brain foregoes growth and neuroplasticity and reverts to its primal self.

When we accept and pursue the things we don’t like and don’t want to overcome, the anterior cingulate gyrus, a region in the brain associated with personal growth, enlarges anytime we do something we don’t want to.

Though this might sound odd, it is highly beneficial when our brain grows this way. This is the science behind resiliency.

The world has grown comfortable with predictable behavioral, cognitive, and social expectations. We know the outcome. Our brain is made for creativity, spontaneity, and chance.

So get out there and add spontaneity to the world!
