The questions of a lifetime! What is the purpose of your life? How do you define your life? This question has been contemplated for as long as time has been a thing!

I’m not going to answer this with some deep philosophical or spiritual/religious perspective.

Just some science, specifically neuroscience! This relatively new science has uncovered some fantastic aspects of how our brain and body interact to create stress, happiness, and enlightenment.

Changing your view of stress changes the chemicals released by the hypothalamus and enteric nervous system—healthy levels of oxytocin and dopamine. Oxygen is the cuddle hormone, while dopamine is for motivation and arousal. Repeated release of these chemicals creates a desire for the body to continue said behaviors. This manifests as an increased sense of one’s value and abilities.

This same cocktail is released when we help others! Altruism is an act of overwhelming compassion. So, when we combine an optimistic look on stress combined with altruism, he sees the health benefits become manifested in such areas as oxytocin and its ability to cleanse the liver, work with fatty tissue, and help to strengthen your skeleton.
