Veteran inclusion

Coming back into society can make a veteran feel like an imposter in their own skin.

Is the military a Subculture? or separate culture of its own?

It’s not really either; here’s a definition:

Subculture maintains some characteristics of a large culture where it refuses to maintain some other characteristics of the same culture."

Now initially upon inspection, when viewing the military, it’s easy to categorize it as a subculture but……

One of those characteristics is that it fights for the freedom of the country of origin. Its majority of its members are from that society and largely the views patterns and traditions mimic or are in line with that if the dominating society.

That last part, which is in italics… that’s what I want to discuss.

The view of the military that civilians have is one of a hard-working, dirty gun shooting and patriot military.

There is nothing wrong with that, we are that; and so much more.

The Facad

Many understand that the military falls under its own legal restrictions. These are called the uniform code of military justice (UCMJ )this code is separate and different from the civilian constitution.
