The tricks our brain plays on us.

Our brain is a complex system of organic matter that creates a world of triumph and heartache. It manifests thoughts, feelings, and perceptions to navigate and conquer such a world. It alerts us to danger and allows us to enjoy life's wonders. It can even give us altered perceptions about abilities and intelligence.

Dunning-Kruger effect;

A cognitive bias tells us we are more intelligent than we are. This is not to say anyone, even yourself, is not wise or clever. Our brain is just a process to assist in the fear-based response that the world is a scary place.

This can be detrimental when applying for a job that you might not be fully qualified to do. For example, we might pitch our skills as considerably above our actual abilities. When discussing or thinking about political and social issues, we will tell ourselves we completely understand the concept. Believing, we know, they have the information necessary to validate our opinion.

Flip the script

Cognitive biases can be used to our benefit. For example, we know the brain gives us more credit than evidence, so can we use that to our advantage? Sure we can!
