Socrates famously had a dameon, a spirit or magical elf; this dameon was said to assist him in his writings of philosophy, government, and the human being.

The Romans thought a genius was a kind of house assistant that would help boys become men who did not have peculiar habits or tics. Additionally, they were to be assistants to great thinkers and architects.

Throughout Asia and many Middle Eastern healing traditions, it is believed that the universal energy, qi or chi flows through the attuned individual. It is using them as a vessel or medium to transfer the healing power of the universe to an individual. As an example, think of Reiki, the Japanese energy healing technique.

With the development of humanism during the Renaissance Era, We began to say a person was a genius! This was pivotal because this was the concept of supernatural or godly influence, and human beings started to separate and be of two separate entities.

The current societal focus on child genius or prodigy is constant. For example, placing children in gifted classes or creating environments that "create" genius kids has been consistently on the rise for the last 30 years.
