Learn a few easy tricks to reduce its impact!

It’s how you work with it that can be unhealthy and self-destructive.

“I need to get rid of my anxiety!”

“I need this anxious feeling gone do I can get stuff done!”

If you have said these things or something similar…. I’m sorry.

Anxiety(stress) is an evolutionary tool that has been given to us that is vital to life!

There is a region of the brain called the amygdala, think of it as our fire alarm system. It is always ready and waiting for a threat to happen.

Boom! we sense a threat and we go into ;

1)Fight/flight

We either fight it do some defense action to remove, distance o,r eliminate ourselves from the danger. With slight w,e take off, run and get away from the threat.

2)Freeze

It’s like the pause button was smashed in our psyche and biological functioning. We become stuck and can't move, our thoughts haunt us, or we go blank.

3) shutdown

This one is dangerous. Our bodies and mind shut down all unnecessary functioning, bringing focus to the torso. The body is preparing for death. Usually, you will see people pass out for extended stints of time.

Now when it comes to anxiety, think of it like this; our mind and body can’t figure out which reaction to go with. So in rapid procession, we go from one to the other!

Heart Rate — elevated

Respiration-increased

Cognition- stunted

Body sensations of hot and cold, tingling, numb and pain are all associated with anxiety.

If we can control our reaction to external sources that cause anxiety/stress then we can view stress as a source of motivation. It immediately makes anxiety a necessity for life.

There are two things that we can do to begin the transformation from anxiety to an advantage.

1)Perception of stress (psychological)
